Where there is a long wait for assessment or therapy from the HSE, many parents may choose a private speech and language therapist in order to avail of early intervention. In a private setting clients can also plan the timing of sessions around what best suits them. Many prefer the convenience of the therapist travelling to their home or their child’s school (with the school’s agreement) in order to carry out assessment and/or therapy sessions. All that is required is a quiet space in which the session can be carried out.
